Medical care

Access to medical care for ALL!

For decades, German immigration and migration policy has focused primarily on limiting the number of migrants. This has led to special residence and social legislation that excludes some migrant groups from certain benefits and rights or makes it more difficult for them to access them. This legal exclusion is primarily caused by the provisions of the Residence Act, the Asylum Procedure Act and the Asylum Seekers' Benefits Act.

For example, although undocumented migrants are formally entitled to medical services, many do not seek treatment for fear of deportation. This is because if they apply for a sickness certificate for reimbursement of costs, the social welfare office is obliged to register them with the immigration authorities. Migrants from the EU often also have no access because they cannot take out health insurance or their insurance from their country of origin is not recognized here.
