AGHNiD

AGHNiD (African Health & HIV Network in Germany) was founded in 2011 and is a nationwide association of African communities, individuals and institutions that are committed to health promotion and HIV prevention.
The idea to establish the network arose during the implementation of the DAH project PaKoMi. Until then, there had been no platform in Germany that enabled these groups to regularly exchange information and plan and implement joint health promotion and HIV prevention activities. With the support of Deutsche AIDS-Hilfe e.V., this gap has now been closed.

The 28 members of AGHNiD mainly come from sub-Saharan African countries, speak different languages and are already involved in local health promotion projects. Some of the migrants involved run migrant self-organizations (MSOs) such as Das Haus Afrika in Saarbrücken, Afro-Info-Pool in Osnabrück or Café Afrika in Hamburg. The AGHNiD members represent a total of 18 projects that implement prevention for and with African migrants in Hamburg, Munich, Saarbrücken, Bremen, Essen, Berlin, Osnabrück, Wuppertal, Podsdam, Düsseldorf, Dortmund, Frankfurt am Main, Cologne and Lübeck.
The working meetings of the network members take place twice a year. They serve to exchange experiences and ideas on the prevention of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STI). At the same time, there is an opportunity to develop information media and other HIV prevention services for African migrants together with Deutsche AIDS-Hilfe. In the long term, the network is aiming for international cooperation with African communities from other EU countries as well as cooperation with various African countries.
The network is open to new members and cooperation partners.
