International Weeks against Racism - Our program

Dear community members, association members, cooperation partners and colleagues,
The International Weeks against Racism will take place from March 17 to 30, 2025 under the motto "Protecting human dignity".
During these two weeks, the DAH will provide a range of online offers and media on the topic of racism so that all members, partners and interested parties from the healthcare sector, counseling and support for those affected, as well as community members, can participate in events. These offers take into account intersectional forms of discrimination that can cause trauma for those affected, their families and employees in AIDS service organizations and counseling institutions.
Events
The focus is on the topics of flight, migration, trauma and mental health - areas that have been identified as central by the communities. Protecting human dignity also means promoting physical and mental health.
Our seminars offer opportunities for sharing experiences, self-care and empowerment in dealing with sexual health and its challenges. In addition, we organize special online networking meetings for migrants during this time. These safer spaces allow specific problems to be discussed and solutions to be developed. The aim is to bring like-minded people together and build sustainable networks.
Some of our specialized seminars are aimed at:
- Ukrainians (in Ukrainian),
- people with experiences of Muslim-related discrimination,
- refugees and people with a history of migration from the BiPoC group.
These offers are not exclusive; they are open to everyone. However, they are intended to help highlight specific forms of intersectional discrimination within the communities.

Media
Specifically for the Weeks against Racism and beyond, the new posters, stickers and roll-ups on the topic of "Rainbow love against racism" and "Living with HIV but without racism" can also be ordered. These media have been developed in collaboration with various communities (and are multilingual: German, English, French). They emphasize that the fight against racism is an inclusive concern for society as a whole, which affects everyone regardless of their origin.

We also understand the protection of human dignity as the protection of health and the right to information. That is why we are revising the brochure "Your health, your rights", updating it and translating it into two new languages: Arabic and Russian. The brochure, which will be available to order again in its updated form in spring, provides information on insurance status depending on residence status in Germany as well as alternative treatment options. Other topics include the German healthcare system, sexual health, pregnancy and practical tips including links and addresses for further support.

Practitioners thus receive up-to-date information for better communication with people who speak a different language; at the same time, the brochure offers refugees orientation in their mother tongue.
The earlier versions (also in English and French) are still available and are already full of important information and addresses, so don't hesitate to order these versions now:

Especially in times of negative media coverage about people with a history of migration and a refugee background, it is crucial that the DAH flies the flag together with its member organizations during the International Weeks against Racism. Many AIDS service organizations are planning events, actions and campaigns for this, so please check the respective pages again!
