MuMM - "Migrants as multipliers for HIV/STI prevention"
Anyone who thinks of "guts" as an alcoholic drink is wrong at this point. What is meant here is "courage". This is needed, for example, if you want to inform and educate your own community about HIV. MuMM is therefore an appropriate abbreviation for a DAH project with the somewhat unwieldy title "Migrants as multipliers for HIV/STI prevention".

MuMM theater training
The Deutsche AIDS-Hilfe project was implemented at three locations - Berlin, Munich and Freiburg - from September 2011 to March 2013. The partners were the local AIDS service organizations and other local institutions from the migration sector. In each case, 14 to 20 migrants who had already worked in social projects or were well integrated into their communities were able to learn at MuMM how to develop and implement HIV prevention services together with and for the community.
MuMM comprised the following components:
- Selection of locations - AH Munich, AH Berlin, AH Freiburg
- Selection of participants with a migration background
- Participatory preparation of the training on site
- Implementation of the training courses on site
- Observation (at local projects or organizations)
- Participatory implementation of a preventive action or medium
- Participatory evaluation and utilization of the results
This "participatory" approach was already tested in the predecessor project PaKoMi, which was completed in 2011. The MuMM also showed that seemingly "difficult" target groups can be reached if they are consistently included in the prevention work.
The results of the MuMM project include various products, including project documentation (MuMM final documentation), various preventative media designed and produced by the trained multipliers and an educational brochure in Persian. Furthermore, the MuMM multipliers and their theater groups in Berlin and Freiburg can be booked for prevention events on site via the local cooperation partners: Line Göttke (VIA Berlin) and Annette Zandt (AIDS-Hilfe Freiburg e.V.).
