Is my virus different?

HIV-positive migrants often experience discrimination not only because of their HIV infection. Like all people, they also have an ethnic origin, a skin color, a religion, a body with certain abilities or impairments, a sexual orientation, an age and a gender.
Due to the combination of different affiliations, migrants can be exposed to various forms of discrimination at the same time: for example, discrimination can be motivated by racism and sexism at the same time. It can be caused by classism (prejudice based on social origin or position) and also religious affiliation.
HIV-positive migrants can encounter discrimination in various situations: for example when visiting the doctor, at authorities and offices, at (gay) parties, in the HIV community, in their own community, on public transport, when looking for accommodation. It can also be structural - for example due to laws.
With the art-based campaign "Is my virus different?" , courageous people from the "AfroLebenPlus" network want to sensitize the general public to the realities of life for HIV-positive migrants. They share their experiences of multiple discrimination in their own personal way and point out opportunities for action.
They hope and wish that these stories will provide good impulses for reflection, discussion and action!
